Divers pull body from submerged vehicle in St. Clair River

Lambton County residents may have noticed increased activity across the St. Clair River in Port Huron as a dive team works to salvage a vehicle from the bottom of the river.

Port Huron Police said an aircraft with Customs and Border Protection noticed a submerged vehicle just off the 3400 block of Military St. Thursday morning.

The location is down river south of Imperial and across from the Bio Industrial Park on Vidal Street in Sarnia.

The St. Clair County Dive Team recovered one deceased occupant from the vehicle. The person has not been identified.

The Port Huron Police Department and St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the incident.

Investigators said the vehicle may have entered the river several days ago.
